BUILDING DREADNOUGHT II

Rather than model Dreadnought II directly into Blender – which is feasible; some of the more ‘organic’ sections/objects might need to be  – I’ve been planning the ships layout using Rhino and my preliminary sketches. A set of production drawings isn’t essential at this stage, but I was impressed by the plans produced for 2001, and documented in Chris Fraylings The 2001 File. Moreover as with most 3D modelling programs CAD plans can be imported into Blender as DXF files, and with some tweaking the geometry can be used to directly build the model or at least serve as a guide. Below are some of the better ‘sketch’ CAD drawings I’ve produced so far.
